We were adopted: April 13 – 19, 2020

Our adoption bell rang 47 times last week! Five of those rings celebrated the adoptions of Brunch and her four puppies Benedict, Omelette, Crepe and Quiche. We are elated that Brunch’s foster made her a permanent family member and has renamed her Daisy. We want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Heidi for taking such excellent care of Brunch and her puppies in foster care.

Triumphs like the adoption of Brunch and her puppies are at times bittersweet, as we also remember their litter mates who, in spite of our team’s lifesaving interventions, did not survive. We wrote of Souffle in a previous blog, and sadly we also said goodbye to Scramble. Like Souffle, Scramble ultimately succumbed to a birth defect. In spite of our veterinary team’s tireless efforts to save his life, including consultations with local specialists, he was humanely euthanized last week, surrounded by love until the very end.

We are now offering our Meet the Foster training workshops online! As a foster care volunteer, you offer your time, energy and home to animals in need, and the Richmond SPCA provides the training, supplies and access to around-the-clock veterinary care you need to successfully care for foster pets. Our workshops and pet-specific trainings are designed to create confident foster parents resulting in a comfortable and rewarding foster experience. Together we can save more lives!
