We were adopted: September 23 – 29, 2019

The Richmond SPCA celebrated two momentous occasions this past week. First, following more than two decades of courageous and visionary leadership, Richmond SPCA CEO Robin Starr announced her retirement at the end of September. In honor Robin’s extraordinary influence on our humane organization—and the field of animal welfare more broadly—we celebrated the achievements for homeless pets that she made possible by waiving all adoption fees last week. This lifesaving promotion resulted in 117 pets being adopted into loving homes.
Robin’s commitment to progressive thinking and innovating over the past 22 years revolutionized our community’s approach to addressing and preventing pet homelessness and established the Richmond SPCA as a pioneer in lifesaving. She is a true champion for the precious animals who share our lives and our world. We thank Robin immensely for her dedication and commitment to this organization and wish her the best in her retirement.

Bring your pet to Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for a special service and blessing of the animals. Pets of all sorts are welcome at this annual event, and the service and blessing will be held in front of the church on Laurel Street and in Monroe Park (directly across from the church). We’ll have Richmond SPCA pets available for adoption aboard our Tail Wag’N mobile adoption vehicle.
